theakinocollection was established in the summer of 2019 by the ceo & founder Onika. after spending time brainstorming on the perfect name for her brand, her mom came up with akino, which is Onika spelled backwards.

Onika has always had an interest and passion in the beauty world, and she began taking her passion for hair seriously in 2017 when she began making hand sewn wigs. after months of working to perfect her craft, she began making  custom closure and frontal wigs for family, friends, and women in her community. 

after two years of studying different hair types and textures, she felt compelled to start a hair brand that provides great quality hair and wigs at affordable prices for women, not only in her community, but anywhere in the world.
